(CNN) — To this point this week, greater than 6,000 flights have been canceled inside, into or out of the US as icy climate has hit massive swaths of the nation.
By Thursday morning at 9 a.m. ET, 6,238 flight cancellations had been logged on flight monitoring web site FlightAware since Monday, together with greater than 700 Thursday cancellations.
Operations have been hardest hit at three Texas airports: Dallas-Fort Value Worldwide (DFW), Dallas Love Discipline (DAL) and Austin Bergstrom Worldwide (AUS).
Greater than half of the week’s flight cancellations to date — greater than 3,200 — have been to or from DFW, together with a minimum of 500 on Thursday.
The toughest-hit airways are additionally primarily based in Texas, specifically American (whose headquarters is close to DFW) and Southwest (whose residence base is in Dallas).
DFW Airport stated on Twitter Wednesday that it “continues to mitigate the impacts of the present winter climate within the space.”
Vacationers are suggested to test with their airways on flight standing earlier than going to the airport.
